To survive, Davidson needed a strategy for growth that would allow the community to manage growth on its own terms.

In the past, Davidson was a traditional cotton farming community. But, as the cotton industry declined, so did the town's economy. As a result, residents moved to more urban areas, including Charlotte. Davidson also benefited from improved highways that encouraged residents to visit larger department stores. Davidson is located near Charlotte, NC and is a great place to commute for work. Residents can get to Charlotte in twenty-five minutes by taking Highway 77. In addition, Davidson is close to Cornelius, Huntersville, and Mooresville. There are several places of employment in Davidson.

Davidson is a quaint town located about 20 miles north of Charlotte. Despite its size, the town maintains its small-town feel, including plenty of parks and common areas for residents to relax and socialize. The town is also home to Davidson College, a small liberal arts college with approximately 1,700 students. The campus is shaded by 100-year-old oak trees. The downtown is quaint, with many restaurants and shops. There is a thriving business district and Saturday farmers market.

Davidson is located on Lake Norman, so the city has a strong water culture. Residents enjoy fishing, paddling, and boating. This makes it an ideal location for outdoor activities. Davidson also boasts some of the finest vineyards in the world. These vineyards produce fine wines that are inexpensive and have a worldwide flair.
