Lake Norman

Lake Norman is the largest man-made body of freshwater located in North Carolina. It was created between 1959 and 1964 as part of the Cowans Ford Dam construction by the company Duke Energy. Since then, it has become a popular tourist destination for visitors and locals alike. To date, it has hosted hundreds of festivals and events. Visitors can spend hours swimming, fishing, and enjoying the surrounding natural beauty. And for those who are looking for a little bit of adventure, the nearby mountains offer a great place to explore.

The climate in Lake Norman is humid subtropical, with warm to hot summers and cool to mild winters. There is no dry season, and rainfall is fairly constant throughout the year. The area receives about 43.1 inches of precipitation a year, of which 41.1 inches are rain and two inches is snow. Winds are at their strongest in February and at their lowest in August.

Residents are also spoiled for choice in Lake Norman, which features a wide range of activities for every taste. The town itself has a charming, historic Old Town area brimming with charming shops, boutiques, art galleries, and farm-to-fork restaurants. The 54-mile lakefront gives Cornelius an opportunity to enjoy a variety of water-sports, as well as beautiful beaches. Here

The Lake Norman area in North Carolina is home to many communities, including Westport, Cornelius, Mooresville, and Sherrill's Ford. The lake itself is approximately 32,475 acres in size. However, it is not quite as large as many lakes around the world. Originally, the lake was created because of an energy company's need for power. Duke Power diverted water from the Catawba River to create a dam, which generated a reservoir. Next post

The Catawba River has been an important part of settlers' history. Not only did it provide them with water, but it also provided important cartographic information for travel. In 1775, Henry Mouzon published a map of the area in which he depicted the Catawba River and other natural features. In 1958, a new lake was created in the same area and was named Lake Norman.
